James H. Stanley MD
Dr. James Stanley is a board certified, fellowship trained orthopedic spine surgeon. His practice focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of conditions of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. Dr. Stanley understands that while spinal problems can significantly impact a patient’s well-being and lifestyle, the majority of the time they will respond to non-operative treatment. Dr. Stanley’s philosophy is to start with the least invasive treatment options that are likely to be successful. This approach will be successful 90% of the time.
A native Texan, Dr. Stanley received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas at Austin in 1992 and received his medical degree at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in 1996. He then performed his general surgery internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Oklahoma, where his sports rotations were spent providing on field and training room evaluation and treatment for the Sooner athletic programs. He then completed a fellowship in spine at Brown University in 2002, which included providing spine consultation coverage for the athletic programs at Brown. He has done extensive post-fellowship training learning the latest minimally invasive techniques for treatment of spine conditions.
His areas of interest include minimally invasive spine surgery, trauma, osteoporotic fractures and disc replacement. In his spare time, Dr. Stanley enjoys spending time with his wife and 4 children.
